Shelter Dogs' Wish List May Come True: Volunteers Plan Holiday For Dogs
Pets

ROCKVILLE, Md. (WUSA) - While you're checking your own wish list for Santa, some canine friends would like to be remembered this holiday season too.

The Montgomery County Humane Society's volunteer dog walkers are collecting items to gift to their furry friends while the dogs await their forever homes.

Through Dec. 19, you can bring donations of new blankets, toys, bones (but not the rawhide kind) and other items at http://www.mchumane.org/WishList_000.shtml to the "bark!" retail pet supply stores in Olney, Kentlands/ Gaithersburg and Rockville, or directly to the Holiday with the Shelter Dogs box in the shelter lobby at 14645 Rothgeb Dr., Rockville.

On Thursday Dec. 20, the volunteer dog walkers will give extra walks and attention to all dogs in the shelter, and those presents will be distributed throughout the day. In addition, items from students at the British School of Washington, and area Girl Scout troops will be delivered to the shelter to be included with the other gifts.

The gifts will help the waiting dogs enjoy this holiday season, and remind them that a brighter future--with MANY wish lists!--awaits them with their forever families.

To find out more about the available dogs and other animals at the shelter, visit the Montgomery County Humane Society's website, or call 240-773-5960.
