MISSING: 15-year-old Gaithersburg girl

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police need your help locating a missing 15-year-old from Gaithersburg, Md.

Kathy Pereira was last seen on Aug. 17th.

She is described by police a Hispanic female, 5'03" tall, and weighing 120 pounds. She has brown eyes and brown hair

Anyone who has information regarding the whereabouts of Kathy Pereira is asked to call the Montgomery County Police Special Victims Division at 240-773-5400.

Two-alarm barn fire in Montgomery County

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA9) -- Firefighters had trouble battling a large barn fire Tuesday night in Montgomery County.

The two-alarm fire happened in the 7300 block of Damascus Road in Gaithersburg, Md., according to a spokesperson for Montgomery County fire.

The fire has been contained, but the barn and its contents have been totaled. Fortunately, no civilians or firefighters were injured. 

Firefighters were forced to take defensive action to battle the blaze, which engulfed a 60-by-40-foot hay barn.

According to the spokesperson, the cause of the fire is believed to be accidental. The fire caused an estimated $250,000 in damage.  

Montgomery County Fair opens for its 67th year

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA9) -- Good times and hot weather are expected for the first full day of the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair now in its 67th year.

Families can partake in games, rides and lots of food.

Children can visit and learn about the barn animals.

The fair is open daily through next Saturday from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. The rides open up at 3 p.m.

"When you come to the fair you are going to do three things you are going to eat the food here you are going to go on the rides and you are going to see the animals. We have some new food venders a Krispy Kreme burger, diabetic funnel cake, cottone candy, corn dogs, grilled cheese. You name it we got it," said Bree Barrick, Montgomery County Agricultural Fair.

Naked man wanted for breaking car windows in Gaithersburg

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA9) -- Montgomery County police say they are looking for a naked man who was seen breaking car windows in the Gaithersburg area.

According to police, the man broke six to seven car windows and a church mailbox near the 8800 block of Emory Grove Road.

The man was reported to be high on PCP, police say.

MVA driving examiner accused of soliciting sex

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA9) -- A drivers test examiner at the Motor Vehicle Administration in Gaithersburg is accused of offering a passing grade in exchange for a sex act.

Daniel Perry, 21, faces up to 12 years in prison and is charged with misdemeanor malfeasance of office.

A woman reported to police that Perry told her she'd failed her driving test. He then told the woman he would pass her if she provided a favor for him and pointed at his crotch.

The MVA said Perry is no longer working for them.

Explosion at government lab exposes possible drug-making

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA9) -- A federal government facility is under investigation for drug manufacturing after an explosion ripped through a lab at the National Institute of Standards and Technology Saturday.

The federal government facility is extremely secure, but Montgomery County investigators were on site Tuesday looking into what may have been an inside job.

MISSING: 11-year-old Gaithersburg boy

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA9) -- An 11-year-old Gaithersburg boy is being sought, Montgomery County police said.

Police are searching for Jerome Lewis Jackson, 11, who was last seen on July 20.

He is described as a black man, standing 5'03" tall and weighing 130 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair. Jackson was wearing a white t-shirt, gray skinny jeans, and red Nike tennis shoes.

Jackson takes medicine and does not have it with him. Police said Jackson has only been living in Montgomery County for two weeks and does not know the area.

His family and police are concerned about his physical and emotional well-being.
