'Beer pong rapist' sentencing continued

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA9) -- The man dubbed the "Beer Pong Rapist" was expected to be sentenced Friday but the judge granted a continuance until April 15th.

Joey Poindexter of Gaithersburg, Md was scheduled to be sentenced after being found guilty of sexually assaulting four men he met at beer pong tournaments.

'Beer pong rapist' found guilty

The continuance was granted after some testimony in the sentencing proceeding. Poindexter's attorney requested a continuance and it was granted by the judge.

Poindexter was found guilty of eight counts of sexual assault on four male victims stemming from incident in 2011 and 2012. Police say he took videos and snapped pictures of these assaults.

Poindexter was convicted in February of sexually assaulting a man he met at a College Park beer pong tournament and lured back to his home in 2013.

Police say on Oct. 3 they learned about a sexual assault that had occurred in Gaithersburg between the night of Oct. 2 and the morning of Oct. 3. Their investigation revealed that the victim had met Poindexter at the bar Looney's in College Park, Md. at a beer pong tournament. The victim went back to Poindexter's home in Gaithersburg where police say the sexual assault took place.

Poindexter was arrested on Oct. 10.

Police: man may have sexually assaulted 10 young men


When police searched Poindexter's hard drive as part of the investigation, they found video evidence that prosecutors say proves he didn't just assault that one man. Prosecutors say he's a serial predator.

According to prosecutors, Poindexter traveled to beer pong tournaments and sporting events all over the country.
