GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA9) -- The investigations into a plane crash that left six people dead in Gaithersburg on Monday evening are just beginning.

A mother and her two young children are three of the six lives lost in the crash.

Marie Gemmell, 36, her three-year-old son Cole and her infant-son Devin were inside their home when a corporate jet crashed into it. Their bodies were found on the second floor hours after the crash. The father and a third child were not home at the time of the crash.

The family lives at a house in the 19700 block of Drop Forge Lane, where a corporate jet crashed around 10:45 a.m.

Woman says community feared plane crash


GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA9) -- A woman who lives in the Montgomery County neighborhood where a plane crashed into a home says her fears became a reality Monday.

"This has been an issue for this community. This is something we've all feared," the woman told WUSA9.

The crash happened on Drop Forge Lane off Snouffer School Road in the neighborhood of Hunters Woods, which is right near the Montgomery County Airpark.

Mother, child struck by vehicle in Gaithersburg


GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA9) -- A mother and child have non-life-threatening injuries after they were struck by a vehicle Saturday afternoon in Gaithersburg, authorities said.

The accident happened around 5:30 p.m. at Stedwick Rd and Watkins Mill Rd, according to officials.

They were both transported to the hospital.


12 displaced after Gaithersburg fire


GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA9) -- A dozen people were displaced after a townhouse fire in Gaithersburg on Saturday evening.

The fire started at 17 Silver Kettle Court in the basement of a middle townhouse, fire officials said. The fire, which officials described as "stubborn" spread to the other three floors of the townhouse, officials said.

A firefighter and a civilian were taken to the hospital were transported with non-life threatening injuries, officials said.

Ben Cherington and Kylie Levy of Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA) Performing Arts Academy of Lorton, Va. and Alexandria, Va. were recently recognized for All-Star Cast by the Virginia Theatre Association Conference for their performances in I Never Saw Another Butterfly. This was the first time Metropolitan School of the Arts had participated in the conference. Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA) also earned the 2014 Virginia Theatre Association Conference award for Best Costume Design and was recognized for Staging, as well as received an honorable mention for Best Play, I Never Saw Another Butterfly.

Four arrested in connection with Md. robberies and shooting


GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA9) -- Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department have arrested multiple suspects in connection with two armed robberies that took place at Sweeney Building Services in Maryland.

The first armed robbery incident took place on August 14th at about 10:05 a.m., police said. Police were called to Sweeney Building Services on Premier Court in Gaithersburg for a report of an armed robbery.

Two suspects entered the business armed with a handgun and a taser, police said. The suspects were able to obtain an undisclosed amount of cash, police said. The victims were able to give a description of the suspects and the vehicle they used to leave the scene, police said.

The second armed robbery occurred on November 6th, police said.
