2 injured after minivan crashes into Gaithersburg building


GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA9) -- Two people were injured when a minivan crashed into a building in Gaithersburg Thursday afternoon.

It happened at Rugged Wearhouse in the 200 block of North Frederick Avenue at approximately 1 p.m.

The two people were inside the store when they were struck and they suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to Montgomery County fire officials. The minivan was about 50 to 60 feet into the story when officials arrived.

Someone in the store told a WUSA9 cameraman that the car just missed a baby.

The glass window and some products were damaged, but there is no structural damage to the store.

An elderly man who was driving the minivan was not injured, officials said.

FOUND: 2 Gaithersburg 12-year-old girls


GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police have found two 12-year-old girls who were reported missing earlier Friday.

Both girls have returned to their home.

Police and family thank the public for helping.

Montgomery County police are searching for two missing 12-year-old girls from Gaithersburg, Md.

Police are searching for Elizabeth Tucto-Poma, 12, who was reported missing by her family. Tucto-Poma is described as a Hispanic girl, standing 5'02'' tall and weighing 110 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes.

2 shot during attempted robbery in Gaithersburg


GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA9) -- Montgomery County police are investigating a double shooting in Gaithersburg.

Police say it happened at Sweeney Building Services located at 18931 Premiere Court during an attempted armed robbery just before 1 p.m.

A 65-year-old male and 75-year-old female were shot and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

FOUND: Tatiana Moore of Gaithersburg

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA9) -- Montgomery County Police Department say they have found 16-year-old Tatiana Moore of Gaithersburg.

Her family reported her missing from the 9500 block of Fernhollow Way in Gaithersburg. She had been missing since. October 23.


In November, police had released an update saying there had been reports of sightings of her in Germantown.

2 injured after car crashes into Mont. Co. home


GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA9) -- Two people were injured after a car crashed into a townhouse in Montgomery County Tuesday afternoon.

It happened in the 9900 block of Ridgeline Drive. The car crossed Club House Road, hit a fire hydrant and went crashing into the house, according to fire officials.

The driver of the car was trapped inside and had to be rescued. He was taken to the hospital in serious condition. A female passenger in the car was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

A woman was on a couch inside when the car came crashing into the home, but she was not injured.

The person who lives there has been displaced and her pet cat is missing. A building inspector has deemed the house "unsafe to occupy."
